Mobile Telephone Operators in North Cyprus
Mobile Telephone Operators in North Cyprus
There are two mobile service providers in North Cyprus. The first is KKTCell (Kuzey Kbrs Turkcell), commonly referred to as Turkcell but with parent business headquarters in Turkey. Then there’s Telsim which is now owned in part by Vodafone. Typically, mobile numbers begin with 0533, 0542, 0548, or 0539.
Both businesses may provide services at reasonable prices, with GPRS, 3G, and conventional tariffs all readily available. It actually depends on who you like, even though KKTCell appears to be dominating the market at the moment. Both companies have English-speaking staff at their offices, which are located in all major cities, towns, and even some supermarkets.
They both also offer your itemized billing by email. The staff can help you set up your phone for any number of applications and services, as well as solve any phone-related issues you may be experiencing.
You shouldn’t experience any issues in North Cyprus because both firms use GSM, which can be found on most modern mobile phones. GSM bands include 850, 900, 1800, and 1900. Both KKTCell and Telsim have agreements in place with all major international networks, so you shouldn’t have any trouble connecting to their networks after you arrive if you wish to use your UK number while you are on vacation here.
Roaming costs, on the other hand, can be extremely high at times. If you intend to spend a lot of time in North Cyprus, it is therefore much better to buy a pay-as-you-go sim card from one of the two operators, buy a new phone and use the sim card, or have your current phone “unlocked” so that it can be used with another network in addition to your current UK or other network.
